Noble’s Pond Residents Reach out to Those Who Serve
Handwritten cards will brighten the holidays for thousands
In an age of digital communication, the residents of Noble’s Pond are giving the gift of personal connection to members of the military this holiday season. Residents of the award-winning active adult community in Dover, Delaware have prepared thousands of Christmas cards for veterans and active military members across the country, and across the world.
The initiative, now in its fourth year, is spearheaded by Noble’s Pond resident George Schuler who challenged his friends and neighbors to beat last year’s tally of 2,600 cards. In a letter of appreciation to those who participated George noted, “You crushed it, and I am proud to tell you that this year’s total is 3,613 cards!”
The completed cards were delivered to area facilities including the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, The Veterans Home in Milford, and the Veterans Home in Vineland, New Jersey. Most will be distributed to troops serving overseas.
Although Noble’s Pond is known for a fun, stress-free lifestyle, residents always find ways to show their concern for others. In addition to the Christmas card project, residents are collecting Toys for Tots, cooking for a local homeless shelter and singing Christmas carols at a Dover nursing home this season.
With maintenance provided, residents have more time to engage in activities—from fishing and gardening to classes and clubs. Staying in shape is a priority for many, who regularly visit the fitness center located in The Point, our 35,000-square-foot clubhouse.
The spacious, ranch-style homes of Noble’s Pond blend Craftsman exteriors and fully modern interiors. All homes feature easy-living floorplans, gourmet kitchens and plenty of room for visiting friends and family. We call it, The Spirit and Style of Home.
Built on 300 acres of former farmland, Noble’s Pond is just minutes from downtown Dover, a right-sized state capital with a rich history, restaurants, theater and museums.
