Mr. and Mrs. Pasek Know: Our Time Is Now!

Chet and Marleen Pasek started looking for a retirement community long before they actually retired from their full-time jobs as manager and classroom elementary teacher, respectively. They did a lot of research online, and on nice spring days, they would get in the car from their home in Levittown, PA and visit one or more active adult communities in the area.

“We wanted a place with lots of different activities, because we want to remain very engaged and involved. We knew that we were not going to be happy just relaxing in a rocking chair,” says Mrs. Pasek. “Our time is now!”

One Sunday afternoon, they visited Noble’s Pond. toured some of the homes and explored the community, the clubhouse and its excellent amenities.

“Already during this first visit, we had a good feeling about living here. And of course, we appreciate the advantageous tax situation in Delaware. So early on, Noble’s Pond was a contender!” smiles Mrs. Pasek.

During a more extended trip down to Delaware, the couple scoped out six different 55+ communities, to make sure that they knew what was available. “It is really important to do your homework,” says Mrs. Pasek, formerly a 5th grade elementary school teacher.

“When we drove into Noble’s Pond again, I said, ‘This is home. This is where we’ll feel comfortable.’ I had this real sense of belonging – which is a very rare thing to experience so early in the moving process.”

“We do a lot of laughing here”

The Paseks moved to Noble’s Pond four years ago, and comment that they “…have never felt like an outsider here.”

They love the many different opportunities to see and learn new things. “There are a lot of resident-driven activities at Noble’s Pond, and if you don’t know a certain sport or the rules of a specific game, people always say, ‘Don’t worry, we’ll teach you!’” says Mrs. Pasek. “There’s pickleball, bocce ball, quilting, pinochle, a bowling league and so much more – and the overall goal is always to have fun!”

After living in their original home for 36 years, where they raised their son and daughter, the Paseks moved into the Fairfield, one of the homes offered in Noble’s Pond. Their single-level home does offer an attic (with a permanent staircase) for extra storage, and a garage. They are delighted with the well-constructed home’s open floorplan, and Mr. Pasek enjoys gardening on a smaller scale in a yard that is just the right size so that it’s not a chore.

They spend a lot of time with their new friends at the Clubhouse, and also enjoy the many parks and nature trails nearby.

Life is too short

They are big fans of Noble’s Pond active lifestyle. “Find a place like Noble’s Pond and make the move now, don’t wait til you’re old and crotchety. Move when you’re young enough to enjoy it!” says Mrs. Pasek.

“We’ve been married 40 years, and we have so much fun, every day. Moving here made both of us feel a whole lot younger!”

Award-winning Noble’s Pond is Delaware’s premier 55+ community, located on almost 300 acres of peaceful farmland near Dover, the state’s charming capital with its fine restaurants, culture and history.
