On Sunday, November 9th close to 80 residents and guests met in the Noble’s Pond Gathering Point ballroom for a Veteran’s Day celebration. Bob, our Veteran’s Day committee chairman and retired Marine, presented the flag, and read a poem honoring veterans. Walt, a resident, introduced Veterans according to their branch of service, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force or Marines. Each Veteran stated their name and service dates. Some of our veterans shared pictures of themselves in uniform from their service. It was great fun matching the faces to those of our friends. Delaware Senator, Dave Lawson, a Veteran himself, joined us with a few words of thanks to our Veterans for their service to our country. Finishing the presentation with “God Bless the USA” by Lee Greenwood, a beautifully decorated cake with “Noble’s Pond Salutes Our Veterans” was cut and everyone enjoyed the coffee, cake, and conservation.
